Hamilton Utilities Corporation
is committed to the promotion of the health and well being of all employees.
Protection of employees and contractors from injury and
occupational disease is a major priority.
The President & CEO and Board of Directors will provide
direction to all member companies to establish a health and safety system
which follows utility practices, applicable health and safety legislation
and existing standards.
The above will be accomplished through a health and safety
system that includes:
- Programs that clarify performance expectations for management
and staff. A primary expectation is that managers and supervisors will
ensure the health and safety of workers under their supervision.
- Training of management and staff that will develop the
knowledge, skill and ability to meet their performance expectations
as outlined in all safety programs.
- Communication by management of the corporate health
and safety plan and programs that will encourage all staff to bring
forward ideas on improving health and safety and report unsafe or unhealthy
conditions.
- A commitment by contractors to meet or exceed Hamilton
Utilities safety standards.
- Regular evaluations and communication of health and
safety performance as a basis for
continuous improvement.
- Development of an annual corporate health and safety
plan, which provides a broad outline of health and safety goals.
The Corporation’s objective is to eliminate injuries
and illness in the workplace and promote the health and well-being of
all employees.
